Important Enrollment Dates for enrollment for the 2027-2028 school year:
- October 3, 2026: Our 2027-2028 application was sent to all families who wish to apply online.
- February 12, 2027: Application deadline to be part of student enrollment lottery.**
- February 19, 2027: All families are notified of their application status.
**After the lottery date, families are still encouraged to apply and join our waitlist. We will fill open seats as they are available.
Should you join for 5th grade or wait for 6th grade?
We get this question almost every week. Some elementary programs end in 4th grade and some extend into 5th. TNA's program begins in 5th grade and we strongly encourage interested families to join in 5th grade instead of waiting until 6th. There are two major reasons for this. The first is that our program is designed to begin in 5th grade and your student will miss out on several TNA traditions if they do not join us until 6th grade.
The second reason is capacity. Once we fill up a grade level, a waitlist begins. Last year every who applied on time was given a spot for 5th grade; but for 6th grade we had 90 applications for only a handful of spots. Several families who waited were disappointed and are still on our wait list. TNA has very high retention (meaning our families stick with us), so very few seats open up during the year.
Admissions to Tennessee Nature Academy
Application Process
Filling out a family application is easy and takes only minutes to complete.
- Step One: Visit our application portal here.
- Step Two: Create an account. Use an email that you check frequently!
- Step Three: Fill out an application for each student you have in grades 4-8 (rising 5-9). All you need for the application is their name, date of birth, address, and current grade.
- Once we receive your completed application, we will contact you to answer any questions you have, share more about our school model, and let you know about upcoming events.
About our Lottery
In February 2026, if we have more applications than spots available, we will run a lottery to award spots. Preference will be given to the following groups, as mandated by State Law:
- Siblings of current TNA students
- Children of TNA Staff
- Families who are economically disadvantaged
